Rage volleyball coaching staff
Lauren Flowers
Rage 18-1 National Assistant Coach
This is my third year with Rage Volleyball after coaching the 18-1s and 16-1s teams. I am the Head Coach for the Women’s Volleyball Team at CSU Stanislaus in Turlock, CA. A NCAA Division II program. I have an awesome husband Steve who also works at Stanislaus State as the Athletic Director. I am also a mom of two beautiful children, Joy and Micah. When training, my strengths include collegiate level technical expertise, building trust among the players, and focusing on the mindset of the athlete to bring out their best performance. I have always wanted to be involved with the volleyball community at all levels. Coaching juniors gives me an outlet to share my passion for the game and to impact the journey for young girls throughout their club career.
Lauren Flowers, a nationally recognized coaching veteran at the NCAA Division II level and Northern California native, was named the head coach for the Stanislaus State women’s volleyball program in February 2022, and will coach in her first year with the Warriors during the Fall 2022 season.
Flowers, who hails from Santa Clara in the Bay Area, came to Turlock and Stan State with nearly 10 years of coaching experience in Division II, most recently serving as an assistant at Texas A&M University-Commerce from 2019-21. She also coached at the University of Texas Permian Basin from 2017-19 and earned her master’s in educational leadership while serving as an assistant coach at Western New Mexico University from 2015-17.
The Lions were immensely successful while Flowers was on the staff during her three seasons. With the help of Flowers’ guidance, the Lions amassed an overall record of 45-23 and received national and regional rankings for multiple weeks in two different years. They had players named All-American on four occasions and collected 15 all-Lone Star Conference awards, including Setter of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year accolades.
Flowers was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association 30 under 30 award program in 2021, a national program recognizing up-and-coming coaching talent at all levels. She also spoke at the 2021 AVCA National Convention as the only Division II coach on a panel titled “Moms who Coach: A Scouting Report to Doing It All (or Almost).” Flowers has long been involved in Division II volleyball, even before she became a coach. She spent her collegiate playing career at Azusa Pacific, always a power at both the NAIA and Division II levels. The Cougars made the transition from the NAIA to NCAA Division II while Flowers was on the team.
Flowers graduated from Azusa Pacific in 2014 with a bachelor’s in liberal arts. She earned her master’s in educational leadership from Western New Mexico in 2017. She comes to Turlock with her husband and former fellow assistant coach, Steven Flowers, and their two girls, Joy and Micah.
